It also arrived on all the relevant video-on-demand platforms. The Marvel movie was a long-awaited standalone that took the audiences into the life of Natasha Romanoff’s. The movie was hyped but it didn’t perform well at the box office. The movie also faced criticism from the critics and audiences. There were doubts about whether the movie fits in the Marvel world. Because of the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic, Marvel’s Black Widow’s original release date was pushed back a year. Due to this, the movie lost its cultural forefront. Marvel had intended to brand Black Widow as MCU more so than marketing as a celebration of the character Natasha. However, this didn’t work with the audiences as the fans hesitated to go to the theaters. Black Widow experienced an unprecedented decline in the subsequent movie ticket sales. Because of the crisis, theater marketing and experiences did not turn out to be a smart way for promoting the movie. The movie proved that even Marvel wasn’t immune to poor sales performance at the box office.
